// B2B Leads Australia · 2026 Edition

The economy that runs on Pty Ltds — and the directors Apollo never had

Australia has about 2.5 million ABN-registered businesses and roughly 1 million active companies on ASIC's register. Around 99% are proprietary limited — Pty Ltds, mostly privately held, often family-controlled, frequently invisible to LinkedIn-first tools. They sit in registers anyone can read directly: ASIC for company structure, ABR for ABN, ANZSIC 2006 for industry, and the company's English-language website for everything else.

Apollo, ZoomInfo and Cognism aggregate US-centric LinkedIn. That covers Sydney FinServ giants reasonably and the Perth mining-services contractor, the Townsville agribusiness, the regional Hunter Valley engineering firm — badly. AtlasForgeX inverts it. ASIC and the ABR first, enrichment second.

Where Australian B2B activity actually concentrates

Australian segmentation breaks down along geography and resource economics, not city tiers. AtlasForgeX surfaces the patterns Apollo flattens away.

Mining and resources

Producers, drillers, equipment hire, FIFO logistics, downstream metallurgy. ASIC's lodged financials are particularly useful — large proprietary thresholds catch most operating Pty Ltds and joint-venture trustee companies.

// Pilbara WA · Hunter Valley NSW · Bowen Basin QLD · Kalgoorlie WA · Gladstone QLD

Financial services and professional advisory

Banks, wealth, super, insurance broking, accounting, legal. Sydney CBD and Melbourne CBD dominate; Brisbane and Perth as regional anchors. ASIC's licensed-entity lists cross-reference cleanly with general company data.

// Sydney CBD + Barangaroo · Melbourne CBD + Docklands · Brisbane CBD · Perth CBD

Agribusiness and food production

Trustee structures dominate — many family farms operate through a corporate trustee for a discretionary trust. AtlasForgeX surfaces both the operating entity and the trustee director list, which Apollo cannot.

// Darling Downs QLD · Wheatbelt WA · Riverina NSW · Mallee VIC · Gippsland VIC

Edtech, SaaS and software

Sydney's Surry Hills / North Sydney corridor, Melbourne's Cremorne–Richmond cluster, Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. Active hiring on Seek and LinkedIn Jobs AU is the strongest single buying signal for expanding SaaS.

// Sydney · Melbourne · Brisbane · Adelaide (defence-adjacent tech)

Tourism, hospitality and experience

Highly seasonal, multi-state, often operated by a single trustee controlling several brand-name venues. ANZSIC Division H with state filters surfaces these cleanly.

// Gold Coast QLD · Cairns + Tropical North · Top End NT · East Coast TAS

The data stack AtlasForgeX uses in Australia

// ASIC

Australian Securities and Investments Commission. ACN (9-digit), legal form, registered office, current and former directors and secretaries, share structure. Name search free; full extracts and lodged financial reports paid via ASIC Connect.

// ABR

Australian Business Register. ABN (11-digit), business name, GST status, entity type, main location. Free public lookup. Entity-type field tells AtlasForgeX whether the operator is a Pty Ltd, trust with corporate trustee, sole trader, or partnership.

// ANZSIC 2006

Joint Australia–NZ classification, native filter. Examples: Class 0801 (Coal Mining), Class 2429 (Other Specialised Machinery), Class 6201 (Computer System Design Services).

// Website analysis

English-language live analysis of the company domain — About, Contact, Team, Careers, plus privacy and terms pages where Australian phone numbers and role-based addresses surface.

// Hiring signals

Seek, Indeed AU, Adzuna, LinkedIn Jobs AU. Active vacancies in sales, operations, engineering and finance indicate an investment cycle — a buying signal surfaced alongside ASIC data.

Privacy Act 1988 and Spam Act 2003 — the practical position

// Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) governs personal information. The 13 APPs have applied since 2014. APP 3 covers collection — B2B contact information from public ASIC, ABR and website sources, for a directly related business purpose, is processable. APP 8 governs overseas disclosure; AtlasForgeX processes everything locally on Windows, so no overseas disclosure occurs.

The small business exemption excludes operators with under A$3M annual turnover from many APPs — but that exempts the small business itself, not those targeting them. OAIC direct-marketing guidance supports B2B outreach to identifiable roles with a clear opt-out.

// Spam Act 2003

Section 16 prohibits unsolicited commercial electronic messages. Schedule 2 carves out inferred consent — including pre-existing business relationships and addresses conspicuously published on a public website where the role is relevant. Sections 17 and 18 require sender identification and a functional unsubscribe.

AtlasForgeX surfaces role-based addresses (info@, sales@) by default and flags personally-named addresses separately so the user can apply the inferred-consent test per record.

FAQ — Australia

What Australian sources does AtlasForgeX read? +
ASIC for company structure and lodged financials; the ABR for ABN, GST and entity type; ANZSIC 2006 for industry; live English-language website analysis; hiring signals from Seek, Indeed AU, Adzuna and LinkedIn Jobs AU.
Compatible with the Privacy Act 1988 and APPs? +
Yes. APP 3 supports B2B collection from public sources for a directly related purpose. APP 8 (cross-border) is outside scope — all processing local on Windows. OAIC guidance supports B2B outreach to identifiable roles with a clear opt-out.
How is the Spam Act 2003 handled? +
Inferred consent under Schedule 2 covers pre-existing business relationships and addresses conspicuously published for a relevant role. Sender identification (s17) and functional unsubscribe (s18) required each send. AtlasForgeX flags personally-named addresses separately from role-based ones.
Why does Apollo miss Australian Pty Ltds? +
99% of Australian companies are private Pty Ltds whose directors often have no current LinkedIn profile. ASIC holds the name and appointment date; the ABR holds the ABN. AtlasForgeX reads both natively then enriches with the company website.
ANZSIC 2006 and state filtering? +
Yes, both native. Examples: Division B (Mining), Class 6201 (Computer System Design), Class 6910 (Scientific Research). Combinable with state, legal form, GST status and lodged-report size band where applicable.
Trust structures and corporate trustees? +
Yes — AtlasForgeX surfaces both the trustee company and its directors. For family farms and multi-venue hospitality groups the trustee director is usually the actual decision-maker. ABR's entity-type field tells AtlasForgeX when a trustee structure is in play.
