Business data in Latvia. Where the records live.
Latvia records its companies in the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia (Uzņēmumu reģistrs), the open state register operating since 1990 and complemented by the Lursoft data house.

The official records
Latvia's primary register is the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia (Latvijas Republikas Uzņēmumu reģistrs), the state body that has recorded companies, merchants and their branches since 1990 and publishes core data free of charge at ur.gov.lv. Each entity is identified by an eleven-digit unified registration number, and the commercial data house Lursoft resells enriched filings on top of it. The most common legal form is the SIA (sabiedrība ar ierobežotu atbildību, a limited-liability company), and the active company base numbers in the low hundreds of thousands for a country of under two million people. Activity clusters in Riga, with strong transit and logistics around the Baltic ports, plus timber and woodworking, IT and a notable fintech scene.
How to use the register
- Start from the register, not from a bought list. It is the legal record of every company.
- Read the status field. Registers keep closed companies too. See how many have closed in other registers.
- Check the website belongs to the company, with the registration number or a distinguishing name on the page.
