Business data in Kazakhstan. Where the records live.
Kazakhstan had passed 2.1 million registered SME entities by early 2024, roughly two million of them actively trading, yet most are individual entrepreneurs and farm enterprises that publish almost nothing in English.

The official records
The statutory source of truth is the state registration of legal entities held by the Ministry of Justice and surfaced through the egov.kz business portal. Every company, branch and representative office carries a 12-digit Business Identification Number (BIN) whose opening four digits encode the year and month of registration. By the start of 2024 the system held more than 2.1 million SME entities, with roughly two million actively operating, individual entrepreneurs account for about two-thirds of them and peasant or farm enterprises for another one in eight.
Wholesale and retail trade is the densest segment by entity count, while the oil, gas and mining wealth sits in a small number of large corporates.
How to use the register
- Start from the register, not from a bought list. It is the legal record of every company.
- Read the status field. Registers keep closed companies too. See how many have closed in other registers.
- Check the website belongs to the company, with the registration number or a distinguishing name on the page.
