🇰🇿 Kazakhstan Business Data Research

Kazakhstan had passed 2.1 million registered SME entities by early 2024, roughly two million of them actively trading — yet most are individual entrepreneurs and farm enterprises that publish almost nothing in English. Company data in Kazakhstan: registers & coverage

The statutory source of truth is the state registration of legal entities held by the Ministry of Justice and surfaced through the egov.kz business portal. Every company, branch and representative office carries a 12-digit Business Identification Number (BIN) whose opening four digits encode the year and month of registration. By the start of 2024 the system held more than 2.1 million SME entities, with roughly two million actively operating — individual entrepreneurs account for about two-thirds of them and peasant or farm enterprises for another one in eight.

Wholesale and retail trade is the densest segment by entity count, while the oil, gas and mining wealth sits in a small number of large corporates. Aggregators such as Apollo and ZoomInfo lean on English-language web data and contributory contact networks, so they pick up the handful of Almaty and Astana firms with international footprints and miss the Cyrillic-only, Russian- and Kazakh-language micro-businesses that dominate the count. A trader registered yesterday in Shymkent has a BIN and a tax record long before it has an English website — exactly the window AtlasForgeX watches.
