Company data in Egypt: registers & coverage

In Egypt the authoritative record is the Commercial Registry (al-Sijill al-Tijari), maintained by the Internal Trade Development Authority within the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade; new companies are usually incorporated through the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the one-stop investment shop at gafi.gov.eg. Each firm carries a commercial register number alongside a tax card number, and a lookup returns its legal name, type, registered address and status. Business is heavily concentrated in Greater Cairo and Alexandria, spanning construction, tourism, textiles, agriculture, energy and a fast-growing fintech and startup cluster.

Why do warehouse databases like Apollo and ZoomInfo miss so much of Egypt? Most registry and company information is published in Arabic, which defeats English-first scraping and matching. The economy also leans heavily on small and informal enterprises that never build the English-language web presence those tools harvest, and their listings skew toward the handful of EGX-listed multinationals. AtlasForgeX instead reads the live public sources directly, so it sees Egyptian companies as they register and change rather than months later.
