Company data in Bulgaria: registers & coverage

The legal source of truth in Bulgaria is the Commercial Register and Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities, maintained by the Registry Agency (Агенция по вписванията) and searchable by anyone at portal.registryagency.bg. On registration every entity — an EOOD, OOD, AD or sole trader — receives a permanent nine-digit EIK (Единен идентификационен код), the code that merged the former court, tax and statistics numbers into a single key. Filings are made and published in Bulgarian.

That is also where bought databases thin out. Apollo and ZoomInfo lean on English-language web footprints, so a Plovdiv components supplier in the Trakia Economic Zone, a family-run hotel on the Black Sea coast near Varna or Burgas, or a small Sofia outsourcing shop usually sits in the Cyrillic register and on a Bulgarian-language site yet stays largely absent from a US-built warehouse. Sofia's IT and BPO cluster gets partial coverage; the long tail of micro-enterprises across the rest of the country does not. AtlasForgeX reads the register and the local open web directly, which is why it surfaces Bulgarian companies the stored lists miss.
