Company registration in Tanzania is handled by BRELA — the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency — whose Online Registration System has made company and business-name records publicly searchable since 2018. Formal incorporation is only the visible tip of a business base dominated by informal trade and micro-enterprise. This page is a live view of the official sources AtlasForgeX tracks for Tanzania and the buying signals it detects.
These are real sources AtlasForgeX has discovered and verified as live for this market — the registers and public datasets it reads to surface companies the stored databases miss.

Tanzania's company register sits with BRELA, the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Since 2018 its Online Registration System (ORS) has let anyone search registered companies and business names for free, and it now handles incorporations, business-name registrations, and trade, service and patent filings in one place — issuing certificates of incorporation to local companies, compliance certificates to foreign ones, and registration certificates to sole proprietorships and partnerships. Tax identity is separate again: the Tanzania Revenue Authority assigns the TIN used on its own business register.
Formal companies are a small slice of the real economy here. Most activity is informal — smallholder agriculture, market trade and micro-enterprise — concentrated in Dar es Salaam, with Arusha, Mwanza and the capital Dodoma behind it. Aggregators like Apollo and ZoomInfo, built on English-language web data and shared contact lists, capture almost none of this: business is conducted largely in Swahili, much of it offline, and newly registered firms take time to gain any web footprint. Reading BRELA and TRA directly is the only dependable route in.
