Kimiko Caller privacy policy

Who we are
Kimiko Caller is made by Tarmex Oy (business ID 3579018-8), Finland. Contact for privacy matters: atlasforgex@proton.me, phone +358 50 375 9852.
What the app does
Kimiko Caller recognises incoming business calls. On Android, when a call arrives, the app looks up the caller's number in our index of company phone numbers and shows the company card on your screen. On iPhone, the app gives iOS a downloaded list of company numbers and names, and iOS shows the name on the phone itself; nothing is sent during the call. The full card is shown when you check a number in the app.
What is sent to our server
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number of the incoming call, or a number you type in yourself to check | To find the company it belongs to | Not stored. The number is used for the lookup only and is not written to any database or log. |
| Random device ID created by the app | To limit how many lookups one device can make (abuse protection) | Kept in server memory for at most 24 hours |
| Subscription receipt (Google Play purchase token or App Store transaction) with the device ID | To confirm with the store that your subscription is active | As long as the subscription is active, then deleted within 30 days |
| IP address and time of the request | Needed to deliver the response; the web server access log records the time, IP address and response status (without the number) for security and fault finding | 14 days, then deleted automatically |
The app does not send your contacts, call history, name, email address or your own phone number.
Reports about unwanted calls
If you report a call as telemarketing, scam or other unwanted contact, we store the phone number you reported, the category and a one-way hash of your device ID (not the device ID itself). Reports are kept for 180 days. We use them to show other users an attribution such as 'Users have reported: telemarketing (12)'. Only reports from verified paying subscribers count, and a label is shown only after at least five different subscribers' devices have reported the same number. A registered company is never labelled as a telemarketer on reports alone, and a number with no registered company shows only the category, never a name. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting users from unwanted calls (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). If your number has been reported wrongly, see Delete your data.
Offline data
The app may download a country package of company numbers and names so that it can recognise calls without a network connection. The package contains business numbers only, no personal data about you.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active. We never see your payment card details. The store's own privacy policy applies to the payment.
Where the company data comes from
The company information on the card comes from public trade registers (for example the Finnish Trade Register, Bolagsverket, Brønnøysundregistrene, the Estonian e-Business Register and KVK) and from companies' own websites. Outside these registers, company numbers also come from business listings in OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, licence ODbL). A number that belongs to several companies is not shown.
Public authorities' numbers in Finland: Source: Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue (Suomi.fi-palvelutietovaranto), licence CC BY 4.0. In the Netherlands: Register van Overheidsorganisaties (CC0). In Sweden: SCB Myndighetsregistret (Statistics Sweden, open data, CC0). Danish companies: Source: Danish Business Authority (Erhvervsstyrelsen), CVR.
Information about people on the card
The card may show a decision maker's name and role, for example the managing director. This is information about people who are not our users, so we tell them here (GDPR Art. 14).
Source: public trade registers (Finnish Trade Register PRH/YTJ, Bolagsverket, Brønnøysundregistrene, the Estonian e-Business Register, KVK, the Danish CVR) and the company's own website. What: name, role and the company's business phone number. No home addresses, personal ID numbers or private contact details are collected.
Sole traders: for sole traders (for example toiminimi, enskild firma, ENK, FIE, eenmanszaak) the business name and the phone number registered for the business may also identify the owner. We show only what the business itself has registered in the public trade register.
Why: to help businesses recognise business calls (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). The information concerns the person in their professional role only.
How long: as long as the information is in the public register. We refresh the index from the registers continuously, so changes there reach the card automatically.
Removal and objection
Anyone shown in Kimiko Caller can ask for their name, or a phone number, to be removed or corrected by writing to atlasforgex@proton.me. Tell us the name or number and the company. We reply within 30 days. Once removed, the name or number is placed on a block list so that it does not return from any source, neither in lookups nor in the offline package.
App users can also ask us to delete their subscription data: see Delete your data.
Legal basis
Processing the incoming number is necessary to provide the service you have chosen to use (performance of contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). The access log is kept on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Sharing
We do not sell or share the numbers you look up. Our server is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Helsinki, Finland (EU).
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, and object to processing, by writing to atlasforgex@proton.me. Uninstalling the app stops all data from being sent. Because the app has no account, we can find log entries only if you tell us the device ID or the time of the lookup. You can also complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
If your company is shown
If you represent a company and want its number corrected or removed from the index, write to atlasforgex@proton.me.
Changes
We will update this page when the app changes how it handles data and show the date at the top.
